‘Why don’t you write all the stories you share at your training programs machang?’ This has been a constant request throughout two decades of running leadership and personal development programs. I make a habit of taking a view of leadership and success from a holistic perspective: always urging participants to ‘define’ their ‘own success’ rather than comparing or competing with those around them. I make it a point to share stories – not for the sake of sharing stories - but to establish the importance of introspection, learning invaluable lessons, and the danger of learning the ‘wrong lessons’ as well.
This book is not a chronological narrative of my life, but a sharing of the events that shaped me, and reflecting on how it made me the man I am today. It also aims to offer a somewhat ongoing conversation about success, and how my ‘definition’ of success changed over time. It aims to get you to think: not to offer a prescription for success! Be warned that it is a brutally honest rendition of my life and lessons – and it is not recommended for the faint-hearted or the dogmatic… - Vidusha Nathavitharana
