Lacanian Eye on Salman Rushdie

Postcolonial analysis has experienced a kind of deadlock, at least in the last two decades. This is due to the lack of ideological updates that it should have absorbed from other European developments, especially from psychoanalysis. Such a reflective and alternate outlook on the existing ideological debates surrounding the postcolonial ‘condition’ could perhaps provide that significant breakthrough, a much needed progressive way forward for the once colonised ‘subjects’. This is where the Lacanian eye matters, drawing on the power of out-of-the-box fantasmatic elements that could generate a mindset strong enough to think differently, analyse not only the self but the other, stand on its own, and make way towards a better, stable and stronger future. With this outbreak, we could anticipate the rise of a new political horizon for the future postcolonial world, and The Lacanian Eye would substantially add to its foundation.
